Joleen's Shabby Chic Modern Nursery
Small Kids, Big Color Entry # 28

thumbs up

Name: Joleen
Age: 3 months
Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Color Inspiration: Our inspiration for Joleen's room was a mixture of mommy's and daddy's tastes. I love modern, but I am a shabby chic kind of girl at heart. Joleen's daddy loves ultra modern furniture and clean lines and clean wall colors....

Give Stevee & Joleen a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Color Inspiration continued: We both wanted a room where Joleen would feel relaxed, and a room that Joleen could grow with. You wouldn't think shabby chic and modern would combine very well, but Joleen's room reflects both.

Tip For Using Color: Don't be afraid to pop color. Joleen's color palette is mostly light pink, yellows, browns, whites, and creams. To make the room pop, we splashed hot pink around the room. We have a hot pink stuffed kitty cat in her crib. My sister-in-law sent a beautiful hand crafted hot pink mobile that hangs from her book shelf. We used colorful frames placed on her dresser and hanging on the walls.

Colors Used: Her bedding is by DwellStudio.
Her Rug Is by DwellStudio for Target
Her Crib, dresser, and changer are by MAD MOD from Walmart
Her Book Shelf is by West Elm
Mobile is from brideandwolfe.com

What a lucky little girl! I like it when a room's story is a collaboration between both parents, and I like the accents in the room-- especially the use of that bookshelf for boardbooks.

So cute! Where did you find the branch shelf above the dresser?

What a beautiful nursery!

That said, I don't mean to be a grump, but I would say this room is neither colorful nor shabby chic.

Doesn't matter, very sweet room.

Love it! I just bought that crib for my baby's nursery. The Dwell sheets are super cute! Where is the lamp from?

Sorry- not at all impressed with this one. Lacks in the modern feel. Couldn't help to notice the Johnson & Johnson baby stuff in the caddy on the changing table- don't some people realize the commercial brands are full of chemicals (parabens, etc.) and not at all good for our babies skin? Pick up some good ole Weleda cream at Whole Foods already...

We are here to get great design ideas; not to comment on others baby care products!

BTW, I LOVE the cameos of the family (including the dog)! What a wonderful idea!!

Really nice and simple!
It has the mommy and daddy touches, and later on Joleen can add her personal style on the light walls!
