Smaller Cooler 2009: Branson's Light & Airy by Design

thumbs up

Name/Age: Branson, 7 months
Location: Plano, Texas
Family: Branson, his mom Magda and his dad
Room Size: 82 square feet
Division: Baby

Tip for Living Small with Kids: This is our first child so we really don't have any tips other than don't buy stuff unless you need it.

Give Branson and his parents a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in putting together this room? The biggest challenge we faced in this room is the lighting. It doesn't have any windows, so there isn't any natural light coming in and we had to use a few lamps. We've tried really hard to keep the nursery as light and airy as possible.

I really like the box with diapers in it on the dresser. We it intended for that use or did you repurpose it?

I would sooo love to know where you found the little owl print that is hangin near the chair under the letter B and also the nifty diaper caddy thing. The room looks great. I love the owl theme for a nursery.

LOVE the bedding and the owl theme as well. The branches overhead mobile and mushrooms on the dresser also add a nice woodlands vibe. Your son has a very cozy spot in the house!

What a great place to sleep, especially in a hot Texas summer. Nice job!

simplicity is key, and a lot of parents unnecessarily go overboard on their nursery. it's refreshing to see a simple set up that is functional and classy. and i love the owls! good work!

I love the layout. It looks like you can get to everything real easy. I also love the colors, they aren't too strong. You did a wonderful job.

Thanks for all of the nice comments!

Rocking chair is from Overstock (Vinnie cradle chair) I think it's still available.

Owl canvas is artist Matte Stephens, I bought it at Urban Outfitters over a year ago. He has an Etsy shop, where you might be able to get a print.

The bedding, diaper caddy, and mobile were all made by my sister in law (who makes really awesome baby stuff). We saw the mobile on Design Sponge.
