Items used for the project and favorite part of the storage solution:
I created this framed storage wall for all of my daughter's hair and clothing accessories. It corralled everything to one easy to access location - great for a three year old's need for independence and autonomy.

I removed the screen from a vintage window frame, painted it with Sherwin-Williams Stem Green, and backed it with a yard of fun fabric. Then I attached three rows of heavy gauge wire to eye hooks in front of the fabric. I hung metal paint buckets from our local paint store and tin buckets from Target along the wires using S hooks. I repurposed a kitchen scrub brush holder for hanging a hairbrush. Hand painted clothespins hold lengths of ribbon with hair clips attached. Extra S hooks and clothespins are awaiting more accessories: some things like sunglasses easily drape over the wire.

I love this storage idea for its versatility and ability to be unique for any age or any member of the family. It's important to find storage that can develop and grow with your child. Raise the height, change the fabric and paint and watch this frame easily morph into a new personality suited to a more sophisticated tween, and so on. My daughter uses it for her personal storage, but it would be just as at home in an arts and craft are with buckets filled with crayons and paints...clothespins hanging up a painting to dry on the wire. How about a LEGO organizer?

Best storage tip for families with children:
I am a firm believer in everything having a place. In addition, I think it has to be accessible and easy to put away. Little buckets work perfectly for young children, and they can travel directly to a clean up site.

This is beautiful, I really love it. The whole room is great and has such a happy feel. Where is the bed from?

Thanks for the great feedback! Noemi really loves spending time in her room. For more info and pictures, please visit my blog: http://mayamade.blogspot.com/
We were very fortunate to inherit her wonderful toddler bed from a our friend, a great DIYer. It's a simple, but very satisfying design. A crib mattress graduates into the frame with a perfect fit. She can't roll out because the walls of the frame rise several inches above the mattress, but the base is only a few inches off the floor...so she can climb right in!

The pictures on your blog are so cute, especially the one of your daughter checking herself out in the mirror. I would have loved something like this when I was a kid, and even through my early teen years. Definitely keeping this in the back of my head for future incarnations of my daughter's room.

Such an original and creative storage idea! Great repurposing of readily available materials anyone can duplicate. I love the sense of independence this gives a child. It makes getting dressed fun! I'm off to get my buckets...

The colors in the room are gorgeous--soothing but still playful and fun. I love the mirror that anchors the organizer, and the buckets are a very industrial-mod touch that makes the whole thing look very sophisticated. Nice job!

This is such a creative and ingenious idea. I love that the buckets are not only functional but so charming as well. What a great way to get children interested in organiztion in a really fun way!! My girls, ages 7 and 9 would LOVE these. They are also so versatile in the sense that they would compliment almost any decor in a childs room. Great idea!!!
