#9 - Charlie's Lockers

2008-03-30-contestheader.jpg2008-04-07-charlie1.JPG

Name: Lesa
Child's Name and Age: Ursula - 5 Charlie - 2
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Category: CLOTHES

Items used for the project and favorite part of the storage solution:
We live in an older home and closet space is limited - in fact, Charlie's room doesn't have any closets! These lockers were going to be thrown out by a school and after being "rescued" and painted they serve as a perfect storage solution for clothes. Luckily Charlie's clothes - like his big boy underwear - are small so everything fits. I love the look of them as well as the fact that we were able to reuse something that was destined for a landfill.

Best storage tip for families with children:
We try to have a place for everything in our house - such as a designated bin for dolls, a cabinet for games and a cubby for hats & mittens. This makes cleaning up as well as locating things later a bit easier.

Thanks for entering, Lesa!

I love that! Such a great idea for a child's room. I wish I could find some fun lockers like that!

I love this! It looks great in a nursery, but will also look good as part of an older child's bedroom. Great job!

This a perfect solution for storage in a child's room. Even with a closet the lockers would provide additional space that is always needed.

I bet this was much cheaper than the "budget" room. What was total cost? It looks fantastic.

This is really cute, but I have to ask - How secure is this? I would worry that my little one would want to climb and pull it down on top of themselves.

This is so great!! And I have to admit that for the past 24 hours I've been obsessively checking craigslist for old lockers in my area!

This is super! Please tell me the lockers are secured to the wall.

We found similar lockers for the laundry room in our condo building... very handy but they are a bit teetery if not secured.

Ebay sells lockers like this, but I bet you can find them cheaper (or free if you look in the right places):
