We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday. Mother's Day can at times be more fun and magical for children, than for their mothers, as it gives little artists and DIY-ers an opportunity to create special gifts -- straight from their hearts.

Whether it's a card, drawing, tissue paper flower or any other treasure, we love handmade gifts from our children.
I got 2 mothers day gifts this year, a mug (beautifully painted in charcoal, purple, and pink) and something he calls a "zig-zag surprise," which he made with my mom. It's such a wonderful idea, I wanted to share it. It looks like a card (he wrote HAPPY MOTHERS DAY on the front) but opens up accordion style. My mom wrote "I love my mommy because..." and the reasons, narrated by him, e.g. "she makes me a big breakfast with bacon... she takes me to the zoo and the science center... she snuggles with me at night... etc." And he illustrated them. This is one that I'm looking forward to putting up on the wall.
Last year, they made me stepping stones with imprints of his hand and foot, decorated with buttons. He is still so proud of them, and we see them every day on our way into the house.
