Survey: How Is Your Family Spending Your Economic Stimulus Check?

2008-05-08-stimulus.jpg

Has yours arrived yet? Ours hasn't, but that hasn't stopped our fantasizing about how we might spend this cash boon. Take the survey below to share how you're spending your wad.

Haven't decided how you're going to spend it yet? Reader Karen wrote in with a suggestion. She and her husband created a website, stimulateminds.org, to use their tax rebate to help public schools. So there's a thought.

We actually don't qualify for it, so no money for us. Boo. Otherwise, we would probably just reinvest it for college or retirement savings.

My husband plans to give it to Channel 13 this year - we could use it but he is so opposed to the idea of the consumerism behind it that he wants to give it to public programs that have struggled under GWB.

The stimulus check invalidates my reason for copping out of my husband's family reunion.

Ugh, the totally unfun bills. I would've loved to have put it towards fun stuff but this whole grown-up thing sucks big ass.

Paying down loans! Not fun, but the prospect of saving on monthly interest is appealing.

When he first came out with this idea it was supposed to be so that we can splurge on something and stimulate the economy. Now, in just a few short months, it seems that most people are looking forward to their check to pay off debts or get something they need. Now people can afford a little more gas. This money is going to stimulate the economy of the oil companies and those people like him.

If we were getting one, I'd probably sock it away in a bank account for when our kids have to repay the money. The money didn't come out of nowhere - there will be increased taxes or government spending cuts to make up for it somewhere down the line.

My money is on higher taxes.

Into the savings account for now, but I'm expecting it'll get spent on some Baby Stuff sometime this fall.
