Survey: Medicine Cabinet

survey-cabinetTOP.jpgCreams, lotions, pastes -- so many sundries, so little space. And although times have changed, just as many of the items we stock in our children's medicine cabinet have, some staples remain, like baby powder or thermometers.

Let's be honest, we are all curious as to the contents of each other's medicine cabinets and when it comes to children, we definitely want to know what is in there. Is there a rash cream that is your secret treasure? A teething remedy you could not do without? Whatchu got in there?

We'll go first! When it comes to our kid's part of the medicine cabinet, we have a box of Sponge Bob bandages, the same tube of Lansinoh we purchased when we were pregnant, California Baby's unscented lotion -- it works great for our face and as an all-around moisturizer. There is also some Johnson's Baby Powder, Burt's Bees lip balm, Desitin diaper rash cream, Vicks BabyRub and some Little Noses saline nasal spray.

O.K., now it is your turn. Just for fun, what is in your (child's) medicine cabinet?

Aquaphore & Eucerin....

MY little one is not here yet but I have practice w/my little neighbors. I come from a family with hyper sensitive skin (I break out in hives if I do not wash brand new clothes & I am allergic to starch). My little neighbors also have extremely sensitive skin so when they are over if they get itchy I can help them out.

Aveeno Lavendar lotion for the body

Lubriderm for her little face cheeks

Khiel's, Boudreaux's Butt Paste, & Desitin diaper rash cream (Desitin is the best!)

Tippy, I totally agree! I have the Butt Paste and I found that it didn't do anything at all. Desitin, on the other hand, works like a champ. Any rash will be clear in one day -- two, tops.

Dr. Bronner's BabyMild soap for bathtime, Method Baby lotion and diaper cream (not quite out of pull-ups yet, so once in while we need it...), Crest kids toothpaste. Oh, and a package of Cars band-aids and Johnson & Johnson's First Aid cream for the inevitable skinned knees and banged fingers (son is two and half- lots of these going on...)

i absolutely SWEAR by calendula oil.... weleda or badger brand are great (and organic) and i firmly believe they are the reason why he's never (knock wood) had a diaper rash. we have weleda diaper cream (just in case) and i've used it on his drooly rash and it worked wonders. i can't say enough about weleda products. we also use their calendula baby wash. pediasure sudacare plug in vaporizor nightlight thingie for when he's been stuffed up also really like little remedies chest rub & saline drops (they're great when the lil one has a cold & you feel helpless). the chest rub didnt bother his skin either. we're really trying to be careful and use organic or as natural a product as we can find.

Desitin (we've used it every night at bedtime since he started sleeping through the night at 3 months old. One diaper rash caused by, well, an upset tummy), Lavender baby powder, Vicks baby vapor rub (I sometimes put it under my eyes at bedtime to prevent puffiness in the morning), Little Noses spray, infant ibuprofen, Johnson & Johnson baby oil for his wintertime baths to prevent dry skin. (I also mix a drop or two with my own body lotion in the winter).

California baby Calendula Cream and Diaper Cream

Infant & children's Tylenol and Advil

p.s. used to use Weleda until I found that they use nut oils in their products, and my daughter is allergic to nuts -- our allergist thinks they may have triggered her allergy. Burt's Bees also uses nut oils -- one of their lip balms has it, and another doesn't... you have to check online for the complete ingredient list. California baby is completely nut-oil free
