This is a fun game at any time, but no surprise, it's a game that gets a lot funnier after you have kids. In fact, there's an entire Flickr group dedicated to it, with some hilarious submissions, such as the one above. Which brings me to the question, dear readers: What are you toting around right now? (In the spirit of two-way disclosure, I've photographed the current contents of my own bag after the jump.)

See it and weep. Aside from the usual flotsam and jetsam of life -- pen, receipts, whathaveyou -- most of the contents of my bag are pretty kid-specific:
- My older son had a recent doctor's visit, hence the books and Playmobil guy... and also hence the lab requisition form and the empty, er, sample vials.
- The little orange measuring tape was used on a recent trip to buy winter boots. (I don't know about you, but I'd rather measure at home and take just the tape measure with me to the store than lug an entire child-sized person along.)
- The collapsible shopping bag is a must-have every time I leave the house, even when I'm not planning a trip to the store. It's amazing how often it gets used.
- Other must-haves: a small tissue packet, complete with cover I made using this tutorial, as well as a random handful of takeout napkins for cleaning up surprises that a tissue can't handle.
- There's also a never-used roll of dental floss. I have no idea how that got there, but I'm sure it'll come in handy someday.
If you're wondering about the absence of keys, wallet and phone, I keep all those things in my jacket pocket... which takes me back to my life, pre-kids, when I never needed a bag at all.
So back to my original question: What's in your bag?

The only items in my handbag that have been added since I had a child are natural anti-bac spray, tissues, and a pacifier.
Of course, I also have an seperate backpack for things like diapers, wipes, bibs, water, sippy cups, change of clothes, crackers, etc.

it's better to ask, what's in the trunk of your car?
Some of the strange items are: pair of adult socks (to use in the play gyms, in case I don't wear socks that day), portable collapsable potty, wipes, roll of paper towels, blankets, bandages, snack container with pretzels. And of course, change of clothes and toys :-)

I once found a set of measuring spoons in my bag, and for the life of me I couldn't remember why I put them in there.

(this are great for just a few diapers and wipes when i'm not going to be out that long.) ziploc bag filled with snacks. wallet. cellphone. keys. psp. (this works wonders to help occupy my son's time. he watches movies on it.) fisher price headphones. bacterial wipes. water bottle. i think that's basically all of it. not too bad i think ...

wallet, sunglasses, measuring tape, folded 8.5x11" paper with all the dimensions to my tables and windows (in case I come across the perfect fabric for curtains), iphone, bbry (for work), pen, hot wheels, coupons, extra pair of socks for my 3 year old and fruit snacks.
i've had some odd things in my purse...but its pretty normal today.

I once went to a baseball game with a girlfriend and came to the rescue of a little girl at the game...all because I had a pair of tiny eyelet socks in my purse! She was inconsolable b/c she wanted to play in the play area but wasn't wearing socks. My girlfriend, who doesn't have kids, was amused by the contents of my purse.
I've also been able to stop and help after coming along a motorcycle lay-down b/c of antiseptic wipes in my purse. (Also on my way to a baseball game...hmmm.)
