Real Simple's special Family edition posed this question to moms back in the Fall issue, and we've been thinking about it for a while. These days dark chocolate, red wine, and freshly brewed coffee top our list. Other moms in survey answered everything from their Blackberry to the BabyBjorn carrier.
Also on the list:
• A timer to set so that a child knows when it's five minutes until bedtime and that's that. See our previous post on timers.
• Audiobooks for long books and long car trips.
• A camera for capturing all of those special moments.
• A sense of humor- no explanation needed.
Parents- what can't you live without?

My daughter was a big crier, so the Miracle Blanket saved our sanity for the first few months. We also got a lot of use out of the Ergo carrier, BOB stroller, and a white noise cd.
