It's such a convenient place to put things, but some refrigerators doors have been known to get a little out of control. You might hang some of the kids' artwork, stick up some coupons, a birthday party invitation, and before you know it- things are flying off every time you open the freezer. Is the answer less stuff, or just stronger magnets? You tell us:
Read on for our favorite solution to a crowded fridge:
We choose a large Beadboard Corkboard from Ballard Designs for the large wall in our kitchen. Then we typed up and printed out a few staple lists- including birthdays and important phone numbers. We added a large calendar in the middle of the board so family members can see upcoming events and write their own activities on it. Paint a portion of your wall with chalkboard paint and you'll have a terrific information center and a clean fridge.

As a part of a larger effort to make my 1958-era kitchen more palatable to me, I just cleared off everything that had accumulated on the refrigerator. And WOW! That's the best 5 minutes I ever spent cleaning/renovating my house. Instantly, the kitchen looks cleaner, more organized, and less overwhelmingly cluttered! Now...on to the corkboard filled with baby announcements, coupons, and various doodads.

We're currently planning to paint the wall facing our fridge (which is structural) with magnetic paint and then with chalkboard paint. Hopefully we can also hang a calendar there, it will be our organization center and the fridge will be clear.

We've limited things to just a handful of pictures and "cute" magnets on the freezer door (on top) and then over on the side, out of view, is our calendar. But we have cool stuff on the front like a wedding snapshot, a small picture of Travis, and.... an Ewok magnet :]
