Top Ten: Baby Walkers

2007-05-08-tudorwalker.jpg

We really want to walk, so we're looking into baby walkers. No, not like the one pictured (although it's kind of cool looking, no?). The American Academy of Pediatrics has declared those types of walkers dangerous.

We're talking about something baby can hold onto and push around the house. In addition to good looks, we want a sturdy, well-balanced walker that won't tip backwards.

Here are some we're considering: (below the jump)

Make sure the walker doesn't roll too easily, or it will be hard for a new walker not to fall down if they lean on it. The one we have was given to us by my sister, but I really liked it because you could adjust tension on the wheels, so it would not roll out from under my daughter.

I'm a huge fan of the Radio Flyer Walker Wagon. It is very sturdy and I love that it a multi-tasker and holds toys too. The only problem is that my son became such a good walker so fast that he doesn't need it anymore! But he does enjoy putting his toys in it.

My one-year-old has just started walking with help so we bought her the Multi Walker. It's lovely, sturdy, and won't tip backwards. However, it will only go in a straight line...which results in lots of crashing into walls and furniture. Even I have a hard time getting it to turn, so it's not a matter of the baby just learning.

I have the one in the middle; it's great, with adjustable wheel tension and wooden building blocks. Only trouble, it doesn't turn, so my daughter just went in a straight line until she crashed and yelled to be "turned". Exhausting business.
