Best Of: Trikes

bestof-trikes508.jpgTricycles --- a child's first foray into the crazy and fast-paced world of cycling. Although their first few attempts at taming the wheeled beast may be difficult, these trikes make it fun trying. With everything from a retro trike to a tandem beauty, there's something to appeal to every taste...

We have the radio flyer that is a knock-off of the Kettler you pictured, with the adult steering handle (genius idea!). While it's obviously not as high quality as the Kettler, it's a good solid trike for a more modest budget. Our daughter loves it and it's held up well.

I got one of those Kettlers with real air tires, and I love how silent it is up and down the street. Our wagon has plastic wheels, therefore is LOUD. The trike stage is cute, but I can't wait until the balance bike stage.

I'm with rockabyemama - the steering handle is a lifesaver! We have the Radio Flyer too. Although I must also concede to genxmom - the plastic wheels on my son's trike are definitely too loud, which I seem to notice every time we take it out.

There is also this great trike that Radio Flyer makes that grows with you kid. It goes from being at tricycle to a big wheel as the kid gets older. It is called the #440 Twist Trike I absolutely love it. I found it pink for girls here on Amazon for $101.95. Not sure if it would run cheaper in department stores or not.

we have an italtrike, but our daughter discarded it when we got her a like-a-bike -- much more fun, much faster, and teaches balance...

OMG, that (the radio flyer-bottom right) was MY tricycle...

so cool that I can still buy it for my little one... We gave that to goodwill in the early 1980's

We have the Morgan Cycle Trike in pink, absolutely love it! It was a pain to get from USA to AUS but so worth the effort, ou daughter loves it and I must admit it is cool having something that no one else in the neighbourhood does!

It's so sturdy too, and so much better than the noisy Eurotrike with it's cheap plastic wheels. I also love the fact that when the time comes that she has outgrown it, it will still make for a very funky decorative piece in her bedroom!
