While we're looking forward to being outside a lot more, there are still a few April showers coming our way. We were intrigued when we saw these carpet skates. Seems like a fun way to burn off some energy for older kids.

We also have a vision of ourselves wearing them gliding around the house doing some spring cleaning.
Anyone tried these? They seem a little wacky, but could be fun. We found them here.
Plastic carpet = static in my mind. I think the kids would be skating around shocking each other, which is only fun for a minute, then everyone gets mad.

My brother and I would make these shoes out of paper when we were kids. They were so much fun...until you burned a hole in them.

what about the rug? won't this eventually wear it in the best "skate zones?" like riding a bike across a corner lawn. and what about all the broken children?
i'd have to discourage this. rollerskating in a concrete basement (winter) is the best i'd do.

We won a pair of these in a contest. Sadly, they are so dangerously slick on our carpet that I keep them out of reach. I couldn't even keep them under control when I tried them, and I lived at the skating rink in my younger days- so no comparison. On my kids feet these were huge and there was even more falling down, not to mention inadvertant banana splits. . .Heelies are safer (true, but still sarcastic : )
