Ciao Pinocchio by Fabio Piazzesi

We cannot tell a lie. We covet these wooden (of course) Pinocchio figures. Sometimes the best way to engage a child with a book or story is through something tangible that they can interact with. As beautiful as these are for display, they have 33 movable joints, including a growing nose (!) and can be posed many more ways than G.I. Joe.

The Pinocchios, in red or blue, are handmade in Italy using non-toxic paint and FSC certified beech wood. The hidden lever to adjust his nose even has an international patent. This isn't the kind of toy you have around for six months and then get rid of. It's a toy that, especially if associated with reading the story of Pinnochio, will be treasured and held onto.

Find this special toy here ($49).

these are actually a fairly traditional italian toy. my mom and her siblings grew up with them in their italian american household and when we went to florence a couple of years ago they were everywhere--in lots of different sizes and colors, although the green and red is the classic.

I love these - they would definitely be unique here in the STates and would be a gift for a little one.
