Remember these guys? They're the Little People. Fisher Price created them in 1968, but they don't manufacture these round and square guys anymore.

This trip down memory lane was brought to you by Tiny Cat Pants and Love Shak Baby.
The round people are too narrow--> choking hazard. My parents kept our airport and hospital sets, and our kids play with them over there. No batteries!

oh how I miss these guys. My little ones will never know the joy of playing with the Sesame Street or Hospital that I spent so many hours enjoying. Thanks for the trip down memory lane...I always wanted the Holiday Inn (as well as the a-frame house)...sigh

I wish they still made these...
We've had to resort to the newer version of Little People. We bought a huge lot second-hand and our girls only play with the people and the animals and a few of the vehicles. The castles, parking garages, etc. are so big, bulky and not so engaging without the batteries (which we promptly removed for our own sanity).
My biggest complaint, beyond aesthetics, is that the size of each "little person" is not consistent, so it's hard to make the construction worker sit on the bus, the bus driver can't ride the tractor, etc. Maybe it's a marketing ploy to get you to buy the full sets?
Just venting...

My husband and I were ecstatic to receive for Christmas, a whole batch of the original Little People for our little girl. We had recently purchased Mr. Hooper's Store from a thrift shop and had no little people to speak of for the set.
The ones his sister found for us are so old that there are even some wooden ones included. Now that's vintage!

I can spend WAY too much time reminiscing on ebay. Search for vintage fisher price. Oh man!

The raised hair on these people was always a selling point for me. It's always painted on with figures you come across these days.

WOW, that's a blast from the past. I LOVED my Sesame Street sets...Mr. Hooper's store, and lots more. I think we had a Sesame Street garbage truck, even. I think we had the airport, and a castle and... I only wish they were still in somebody's attic.

I wonder if my parents still have those sets? hmm....

I had the Village and my sister had the A-Frame House -- how I wish we'd kept them because I would love to have them for my son now!

I live in a Garage Sale paradise.
I collected 2 parking garage, 2 dollhouses, 1 minimart, schoolhouse along with whole lot of little people and animals.
My 4yo plays with them and he doesn't know what FP little people look like today.
I love the sound of bells and clicking sound of those toys.
I am so over with metal wire bondaged toys and battery guzzling noizy toys they make today.

I had that!
The holiday inn had little square people - they were outcasts in the Little People realm! It was the only set I had with square people.
Between my brother and I we had the parking garage, castle, and the holiday in. Oh.. I had a Partridge family bus... and a Tree Tots tree house. None of these required batteries... they were fueled by imagination and I was always occupied!

I've never seen square Little People!
I had the Farm (complete with barn, silo, fences, and animals) and the zoo (it had animals, food, a train, and some levers that would make the animals move).
My Grandma had the airplane and Sesame Street.

I never realized what a phenomenon these were until a photographer friend started shooting a series of these little guys.
