Eye Can Art Wax Drawing Kit
The Wax Drawing Encaustic Kit, $24, is a tin tub which contains everything your child will need to create their very own layered photo using melted wax. The kit comes with two frames, oil pastels, natural and colored beeswax, a glue stick and a plastic hanger.
Using layers of melted wax and oil pastels, your child can create an art piece that has great depth and the unmistakable great look of an encaustic work. The Wax Drawing Kit is one of three available kits in the Eye Can line which also include a Collograph (Printmaking technique) and Sumi-e (Japanese-style Brush Painting technique) kits.
Created by two artists, who are also mothers, Eye Can Art kits bring various mediums of the art world to children in an easy, approachable and fun way.

The effect of the depth of the wax drawing layers is pretty cool. I've used the kit with a six-year-old and it worked well.
