Handmade Princess and the Pea Set

2009-05-pea2.jpg

The most delicious urge to take a nap came over us when we laid eyes on this beautiful, handmade Princess and the Pea play set made by Manda McGrory and we're quite sure a miniscule pea could not have kept us from enjoying it. See more after the jump.

Manda is a creative soul whose sewing, crafting and homelife we love peeking in on via her blog TreeFall Design.
Her passion for sewing and beautiful fabric is evident and (unlike some of our own) her projects are never slapdashed together, but always executed with care.

The Princess and the Pea set includes ten quilted mattresses, a fabric doll (with yarn hair, an embroidered face and wearing a hand sewn dress) and, of course, a small felted pea. The set is housed in a linen tote bag with a mattress-like front pocket for the Princess to rest in when not being played with. Each set is a labor of love and is made to order (which takes about a month).

What an exquisite gift this would make! Visit Manda on her blog (see her post on the Princess and the Pea set here) and her Etsy shop which is always filled with goodies for children and adults.

Have you seen the Lauren Child illustrated book of the Princess and the Pea? It is utterly charming.

Amanda Soule made something similar recently with her daughter:
