Hippie Tipi Play Tent by Vessel

hippie-tipi-1.jpgYesterday's post about the Ikarus swing got us thinking about other toys that can serve both in and out of doors. Play tents are a great example. Not only does this little tipi work in the house or yard, it would also make a fantastic beach cabana. And when the weather turns cold, we wouldn't mind having it set up in a corner of the living room for winter camping. S'mores, anyone?

Made of heavy cotton wrapped around wooden poles, the tipi's cover is machine washable, which is a huge selling feature for us. It's available in three color combinations (though we're partial to the multi-colored version pictured up top).

Fun, fun. I love their color combos.
I've been meaning to sew a teepee like these for ages. Butterick has a pattern:

A family friend made a teepee for my three brothers and me when we were little. It was larger than this so that three of us could fit in comfortably, and had two window holes and zipped up. It was awesome. We played with that thing for years both inside and outside. It was one of the most used and versatile playthings we had. I would definitely recommend making/buying one for your kids!
