We're predicting that 2009 will be the year when people return to traditional design elements -- lots of quilts, burlap, and braided rugs -- but with a contemporary twist. It doesn't get a lot more homespun than this handmade dollhouse we spotted in the Etsy shop Day Heights Graphics. And yet there's something about its clean, honest lines that puts us in mind of some of the handmade modernist dollhouses we've posted lately.
Made of pine plywood with cedar shake shingles, the cabin is an almost-perfect replica of the Ingalls cabin from the Little House TV series, right down to the tuckpointed rock fireplace complete with soot.

I love this! I just gave my daughter a read aloud edition of Little House in the Big Woods for her first birthday. We read a chapter last night (with my three year old son completely enthralled I might add.)
I am slightly afraid that the shingles would be toast in my house though.

This is really cool!! Would anyone object to me posting a couple of pic's of 1800's replica homes, church's, saloon's , etc. that I make by hand? Laura and her wonderful stories and tv series is what inspired me. They are made of of woodshake.
Thanks
