Now this is a monster we could live with. North American Bear sells monsters designed by the staff's children, complete with a tag and a unique monster story for $16, and a portion of the proceeds goes to Global Action for Children. Your child can also design their own monster for a bit more...

For $249, you can buy the Make My Own Monster Kit. The kit includes everything they need to design their own monster and send it to the Monster Lab where it will be created in the form of a plush doll. The monster making process takes about 8-10 weeks.

If you're crafty, you can always make your own.

I have to add a little testimonial. A local independent toystore held a monster drawing contest on Halloween, and the winner got his or her monster made into a stuffed animal through this company. My seven-year-old son won the contest and his monster is *awesome*. The craftsmanship is excellent, like nothing I could have done. They even sewed on a small tag with his initial. Very cool. That said, I wouldn't have paid $250 bucks for it, but if you're someone who can afford that, it's super cool. I can see why they charge so much; it must have taken a lot of time to make. And, it is a very accurate replication of his drawing. He was thrilled beyond belief.
