Memory Game by Vilac

2009-03-25-memgame.jpg

Simple, versatile toys like memory games are our favorite gifts to give and to receive. We adore the illustrations on Vilac's memory game by French artist Nathalie Lété. Grab some floor pillows, gather your kids and challenge their memories.

Each set has 24 unique illustrations (48 pieces). The set is made of wood and comes with a sliding wooden carrying case. We found it here for $40.

Brio makes a very very cute memory game (called "pick a pair) - wood box, wood pieces, around $15. I got one for my 4 year old for Xmas and we play it all the time --

Thanks, I like that price much better. Looks like it's sale for $10.49 right now.

A lovely game, thank you for featuring it.

Just as a side note, Vilac is a wonderful little toy manufacturing company not far from where we live, in a valley in the French Juras. It used to be a valley full of toy manufacturers, but there are few left; the vast majority of jobs have been exported to China. Vilac was resurrected by a vision of trying to feature the work of talented artists and designers. The people who make their toys are third and fourth generation toy artisans in many cases; it is an impoverished area of France with little industry, and so Vilac is very important to the area.

Fingers crossed they survive in this economy.

Brio's Pick-a-Pair costs so much less because it is made in China.

That's so cute! I'm adding it to my list of toys to buy for nephews and my own children. It's an important learning tool.

The brio set might be cheaper, but it isn't NEARLY as cute. I'll be picking up the french set.

That is a lovely set. I like Vilac products a lot. I particularly like that they are not made in China and thus, I am willing to pay a premium for them.

We have a lovely little race car from Vilac. It is so charming and very, very speedy. The paint is very high quality and resists chipping. Plus, my husband makes a funny vroom vroom sound with a French accent. http://www.oompa.com/baby-toys/item/VI2263/Vilac-Mini-Roadster---Red.html?oompaItem=Vilac_Mini%20Roadster%20-%20Red

Baby Gap currently has some of their cars/trucks in stock and they just went on sale at my local store.

I just ordered this memory game from a store called Kidostore based in Australia. I only got notice that they charged my credit card for the purchase, but email confirmation for the order. I also sent an email to them and haven't heard back. Anyone ever order from them or hear about them? I'm worried that they may have just charged my credit card, and I won't get the beautiful memory game.

I ordered it about 4 days ago.
