I bought cardboard house at Michaels Arts and Crafts for about $25, it folds back down to slide under a bed or behind a couch for storage, it is white cardboard, with black outlining details like shingles, window frames, siding etc. It can be left black and white, or colored with markers and/or paint. Personally, I don't think this one is very attractive, Michaels might be a better option for someone looking for a playhouse that would blend with decor a bit more.

Blend in with the decor? These are kids; they love bright colours, they thrive on them. So why stifle that for the sake of an (adult) desire for white, or beige or gray or some other neutral?
That said, this is probably overpriced. Jende's option is more economical and utlimately, seeing as you can decorate it yourself, better for your kid's creative development.
The cheapest option, however, is a cardboard box (or boxes), cut and shaped however you want it with whatever colours and designs you want. Stalk someone that's buying a washing machine or something. Those are great boxes.
