Taru Designs Wood Creatures

When we saw these wooden creatures we were brought back to our childhood and the collection of small, whittled wood animals an elderly friend made us that we hadn't thought about in decades. But the craftsmanship and beauty of these is what really drew our eye.

They also remind us of the reissued classic Kristian Vedel Birds in their wooden simplicity and collectability. There are three different creatures, Pongo, Zirma and Gobi, but each is made unique by the color, grain and type of wood (mixes of cherry, wenge, bocote, cocobolo and zebrano). These might seem like objects better appreciated by parents than children, but we believe that the simpler the toy the more likely it is to spark little imaginations.

Taru Designs can be seen and purchased here.
