Some toys are just enchanting. We first saw walkers in an antique store in Quebec, and were mesmerized by their simple genius.
You may have seen one in action on the nursery radio post last week - that sweet elephant, slowly making his way down the wooden ramp is a walker.
While we don't have a ready source for the heffalump in the video, Romp Brooklyn has walkers for sale in their online store.
They come in Penguin, Bunny, Hedgehog, and Duck, and are made of painted wood with felt trim. We spy an elephant in the picture, but he isn't listed as being for sale on the site. Watching toddlers try to figure out how these toys 'walk' is great amusement. No need to teach them the laws of gravity just yet!
Walkers are $35.00, $38.00 if you want them gift wrapped, and are made in the Czech Republic.
They are available at the Red Balloon in Chicago as well. I remember being mesmerized by them, too, when I first saw them. So cute! The question I always had though was, do the kids that these walkers are for find them as fun as adults do?

I've come across them elsewhere on the net, just forget where...
