Is "modern pastel" an oxymoron? We don't think so. Pastel Toys are simple, wooden and classic. They are handmade by developmentally disabled adults striving for independence in a non-profit kibbutz community in Israel. Each toy rececives individual attention with hand-sanding and hand-painting in pastel colors with milk-based paint.
The collection is mainly a menagerie of animals on wheels including dinosaurs, elephants, and giraffes. There are also several modes of transportation - cars, buses, trucks, and trains.
We especially like this combination of push toy (which also serves as a walker) and building blocks.
In addition to toys, the community now makes wooden walk hooks with animal faces.
Pastel Toys are available through several online retailers including EgiggleThe Silly Wagon. A Pastel Toys line of children's furniture can be seen on their website, but we have not found a distributor for it.
