Italtrike OKO

2007.09.18.nursery.italtrike.jpg

Can you guess what this is? We know you may be tempted to guess 'time machine', or possibly 'torture device', but but this is, in fact, a child's tricycle - the Italtrike OKO, to be exact. This is no old skool trike! With its sunshade, 3 point safety belt, and front wheel lever brake, this is the trike of the future!

Designed to be ergonomic for the rider, the Italtrike OKO also comes with a pushbar, in case your budding cyclist isn't able to pedal very far on their own. Currently on sale for $112.99, it also comes in bright orange.

We have the orange version of this, and our daughter loves it. I think it is very attractive and basically well-designed and well made. However, the pushbar kept falling out (my husband made some sort of alteration that I didn't see, and now it works fine), and we removed the hood entirely, because it just kept slumping over to one side and getting in the way.

We also have the orange version, and I was very disappointed to discover that the pushbar cannot be turned. In other words, you can't turn it to the left or right to steer the bike when your child is just learning to pedal.

Also, it won't pedal backwards, which my husband thinks is fine but I think is really annoying.
