Help Your Kids Start a Postcard Collection

070609postcards.jpgI recently came across a shoebox full of old postcards from childhood. Most of these were from my parents when they would go away on trips without me, or from friends I had met at camp. At the time, I would hang each postcard up on my door, one by one, as they came in the mail. It was such a highlight! If you escape much without the kids, start sending postcards from each destination and encourage ways for them to collect:

 • Start a book or binder, organized by year or location
 • Create a wall chart, bulletin board, or magnet surface for displaying
 • Hang postcards from a mobile and rotate as new ones arrive in the mail

Try www.postcrossing.com you can stay at home and see the world via postcards!

Quite a few people have accounts on behalf of their children, especially those who home school. You send a postcard to a random stranger and get one back from another stranger in a different country. It costs you nothing more tahn the price of a postcard and postage.
