Organized Trip Packing

072309trip-packing.jpgDoesn't it always seem like with each day you're away, the suitcase gets messier and messier? And usually by the time we are ready to pack up to go home, we can't figure out how everything fit in there in the first place. A simple tip from Small Notebook that will change the way you pack, and hopefully make every day of your travel with children that much easier...

Yes, you guessed it. Pack a complete outfit for your child for each of the days (plus one extra day she suggests) in a sealed baggie as shown above. This is a tip adults could also benefit from!

Thanks Small Notebook!

What a great idea! I'm going to use this when I go into the hospital to give birth this fall. Last time I left a basket with several neatly coordinated oufits for my husband to dress my daughter in while I was gone, but when he brought her to visit after the baby was born, she was in the pants from one and the shirt from another. This should solve that problem.

this is a bit of simple genius, i like that fact that all the clean clothes will stay clean until needed and in the event of EPIC soiling the offending outfit could be re-sealed in the bag with maybe some laundry soap to soak.

I did the same thing on a recent trip, using small mesh laundry bags from the dollar store.

I also did something similar last weekend when I took my two month old baby out of town for the first time. I figured it would be easier for me to find things and for me to tell her grandparents, who we were traveling with, where to find things. Instead of saying there is a clean onesie someplace in the suitcase for her to sleep in, I was just able to say look for the bag labeled sleep onesies and hand me one please.

This is great for my husband, who has no eye for color/pattern coordination. The same goes for my son's caregiver. And definately will keep this in mind for when traveling next fall with the kiddo.

You could make day of the week (like underpants) drawstring bags out of muslin.

Ok...it's so simple and yet totally brilliant. Seriously...who needs the Container Store when we can all just go to Safeway and get some Ziploc bags? Right???? Love it....
