Cowboy Wallpaper

4-10--cath-kidston.jpgWe saw this in a great book, Babies' Rooms: From Zero to three a year ago, which has us looking admiringly into baby decor for the first time. There are many, many good ideas in here, but this one stood out: Cowboy Wallpaper from Cath Kidston. Just take a look at how much fun that cowboy is having, galloping across the range with his lasso flying. Wallpaper is so cool.

A Brit with a killer name, Cath Kidston must be Laura Ashley's trippy, fun cousin. She has a US website and shops in NY and LA selling her eccentric, colorful vintage furnishings, tableware and accessories, but she also sells wallpaper. To see it you have to find it under oilcloth here. Each roll is 11 yards and 20" wide ($50).

Reference to that book title ("Babies rooms from 0 - 3") brings me to an issue I'd love to see addressed here: transforming a baby's nursery into a preschooler's room. Though "AT: the nursery" does imply that you're dealing only with babies' rooms, I've seen enough play areas shown here that I think you mean to include interesting/fun solutions for rooms for kids of all ages. Or at least, under 10?

My daughter is 2.5, and I feel like I'm obsessing lately on how to morph her room into something an older toddler/preschooler will enjoy. A lot of the elements can stay--it was never super-babyish--but certain things will go (the toddler bed, the changing table). And, the things that do stay (table and chairs, booksheves) may need to change to become more condusive to independent play. The space in her room is also kind of challenging, so there's that, too...

Anyway, just a thought. Am really enjoying this section of the site!
