DIY Wallpaper for the Coloring Book Set

2007.03.08.wallpaper1.jpg

Let the kids color on the walls! Or at least let them color on these paint-by-numbers wallpaper stripes. Great for encourging your child's inner designer, these handy stripes are a way to help your child make design decisions in their own spaces.

2007.03.08.wallpaper2.jpgThey come in all sorts of different patterns: florals, insects, monkeys, and astronauts, and a wide range of background colours.

A 6" x 15' stripe is just $20.00, and hours of coloring fun. Of course our question is, how do you keep the kids from coloring outside of the lines and all over the wall?

I think it's a really cool thing for when they're old enough to know better than to draw all over the walls. But I actually would think it'd be kind of cool to let a little artist decorate the walls of their room and then paint over it again every so often so they could keep going :)

When I was a small child, I drew a huge picture all over a sheet that was covering the guest room bed. My mother, instead of being annoyed with me, was delighted with the artwork, and kept it as long as she could (it faded, unfortunately). I wonder what she would have said if my masterpiece had been on the wall, though... I would have loved these wallpaper strips!

I picked some borders up at the MOMA store (http://www.momastore.org/) for $6 each: Green Insects, Yellow Insects and Blue Octopus. Search for "Wallpaper."
