This lovely wallpaper tree mural certainly made a birdhouse in our soul. On its own we love the simple silhouette of the tree and the interplay of the subtle patterns, but the addition of a wood birdhouse really brings the whole thing to life.

"Sweet Paul" created this for Country Living magazine from a variety of vintage wallpaper. He offers tips for recreating this yourself on his blog of the same name. You could achieve a similar effect using decorative paper or fabric (using a different technique to adhere it to the wall).
If you're not a subscriber to Country Living and want a taste of what they're all about you'll find a ton of projects and inspirational photos on their website.

How is this not a complete knock-off of Inke Heiland's tree and birdhouse lamp??

I prefer 'inspired by' to 'knock-off'. It would be frillion times easier to do the trunk in fabric (probably cheaper too). Spray adhesive works really well, and it does come off pretty cleanly, so you can add and subtract without repainting. I'd probably choose fabric for the trunk and paper for the leaves to create additional visual texture.
