Frost Your Windows

2009-01-16-glass art.jpg
Looking for a little privacy in the nursery or bathroom but still want some light? We've seen plenty of pretty options for translucent screens, but they tend to be pricey. For $8, you can get a can of instant window treatment.

We found the idea over at Wondertime magazine in an article on small bathroom ideas. We love the idea of putting round stickers on the window while you spray for an easy design, and it's got us thinking about what else we could stick up there. Anyone tried this spray before?

I used this spray for the windows in my basement laundry room. It works wonderfully! I still have my privacy & the soft light makes the room feel cozy. It's great stuff!

Is it permenant? This would be perfect for our small bathroom window, but I'm not sure how our landlord would feel about it if it was there forever.

I used this on some glass furniture in my pre-parenting days. It is NOT permanent and extremely easy to use. Just follow the directions on the can & you'll be fine. I was able to remove the frosting from my tables simply by soaking & cleaning them several times in a row-at the most you'd need a razor blade to remove it (as you would paint).

You can have a lot of fun cutting shapes out of Con-Tac paper to make your design.

I'm willing to bet it comes off with paint remover / acetone.

My mother in law used this on her glass bathroom door to let light in, but keep things private. It looks great (and is not permanent).

They make frosted cling film that goes on with water and basically a plastic squeegee. I did French glass doors into a bedroom with the film so I wouldn't need an extra set of curtains to launder.

It is child friendly because it works with static cling (not chemicals that you spray) which is nice if you can't lug doors out into open air and have little guys underfoot while you work on your project. I bought mine at Home Depot but you can also find it online and they also sell different patterns if you want to go that route too.
